are they really live?

Earlier it was 6pm in the US, and about 5am in beijing.

It was dark in Beijing so made me wonder if this was really happening at 5am.

  1. Hey! I live in Beijing and the games usually begin around 8:30am. Then it's not dark here. They take a break in the Bird's nest during the day and then the athletics competitions start again at 7pm and continue until about 12am. It starts getting dark here around 7-8pm... No competitions at 5am....

  2. They are live anywhere from 9:00 at night and on. They are 24 hours ahead.

  3. It IS possible for it to be dark that early in the morning...

  4. They are live only when stated as such. Some games are recorded and shown later.

Good lord they are not 24 hours ahead of us. Where do you people come up with this stuff?

China is 13 hours ahead of Eastern Standard Time. When it is 9:00 pm in New York on Wednesday, it is 10:00 am in China on Thursday. An easy way to tell is jump ahead one half day and add one hour. Easy.

  5. If you're watching on NBC in America they put "Live" in the corner no matter what.

At one point it was a live feed, but they never remove it. Even during the late night re-runs of it say "live" when it really isn't.

  6. When it says LIVE on the screen its only live on the east coast.  If you live in the central or pacific time zones, you'll never see it live.  :(
