  1. Turning the air (conditioner) up makes it cooler.Turning it down makes it warmer.

  2. Up: Increase: more : Means you want fan to run on higher value to present value. If in steps 1,2 3 etc

Down: Opposite of UP : means decrease the fan speed to lower value than what it is at present i.e 3 2 1

More cooling  or heating  is not implied directrly .It will depend on which mode you are in- if in cooling then ..Up would mean higher cooling and Down - less cooling

But if in heater mode: Up means more heating..etc

  3. I agree with the first two posters.

It seems rather odd to say, "Turn the air up," when you want the temperature to go down, but you are asking to increase the air conditioning.

    Air up = cooler

    Air down = warmer

    Heat up = warmer

    Heat down = cooler

    Thermostat up = warmer

    Thermostat down = cooler
