Question:

When Prince William becomes king, if he has a daughter before a son, in this day and age would we get a queen?

Provided no unexpected deaths happen within the royal family, would William's heir still go to the first male in the family, or is there a chance the age old tradition would be broken if a girl was to be his oldest child.

  1. yes Confuzzl sorry but you are wrong - you cannot become monarch by marriage. Queen Elizabeth is on the throne by being her father's oldest child giving that she had only sisters. If she had had a younger brother he would have become King.

one female MP has recently suggested that this rule may be looked but for the time being at least the eldest son will still always become King - as is right in my opinion I am not a sexist but we are supposed to have a King - our national anthem for instance is actually God Save the King but gets changed for a queen, queens have always been a rarity and only happen with the lack of a son.

  2. Unfortunately, BEC is correct about the first born male inheriting.

However, I think we should do what the French or Russians did.  If you were living in a Northern English city, you wouldn't fall for the b u l l s h i t of these parasites either.

    Addenda:

Wrong confuzzi.  Now I know how you got your name.  Whether he had the daughter first is immaterial.  If he has a son afterwards, the son will be in line before the daughter.  Don't argue with me.  I know my own countries laws.

Even if I do detest the parasites.

  3. b e c knows her stuff if you doubt her look it up yourself but she is right

  4. Queen Elizabeth did it.  Her husband isn't King, I think he is a Duke.  So, yea.  If Prince William had a daughter first she would most likely be able to be queen.

B.E.C. you didn't help yourself there

  5. The UK still stands by the rule of primogeniture which means the eldest son inherits.Perhaps William will institute changes of this law so it will be the eldest child who inherits.

    Addendum:

Confuzzl, you go it wrong. Queen Elizabeth WAS the HEIR. Her father had TWO daughters and NO sons!Philip is a SPOUSE and not an HEIR.As a spouse he is Prince Consort as well as Duke of Edinburgh,Earl of Merioneth and Baron Greenwich. And Philip is a Royal Prince by birth from the Danish and Greek Royal Houses of Schelsweig-Holstein-

Sonderburg-Glucksburg. He gave up his Greek nationality to become an English citizen but had his royal titles reinstated by his father-in-law AND his wife.

  6. As the law stands Prince William's eldest surviving son would become king on the death of his father. If he had no sons his eldest surviving daughter would become queen on his death.
