Jimmy Carter had 30+KwH of solar panels installed on the roof of the White House, in hopes that it would be an inspiration to the entire country.

Ronald Reagan had them removed - 5 months later.

What were Reagan's motives? Was he supporting "Green" alternatives, or "Energy Chronisim"?

  2. I lost my job at the solar collector assembly plant when Ronnie Raygun cut the tax incentive.  What were his motives?  If we could answer that we would have the keys to the kingdom.  When will we learn?

  3. it seems it was actually 6 years later.

and, like the view of most Americans, it was inconvenient.

if you read the piece, Carter was quite prophetic.

it is now a museum piece.

  4. This is definitely where it all started to go bad. By removing the panels, he pretty much signified that it was OK for Detroit not to fund or research alternative fuels. Hence the SUV and the huge surge in the automakers over the last 20 years. Although I may also agree to the senility to some extent. Look where it has all gotten us today. $5 gas prices and a hole in the ozone. D--- republicans...

  5. He was senile even then.

No, really, this is why I will NEVER vote for a Republican.

  6. I did not hear anything about that in the news. Maybe it was no big deal.

AH and the reason its sitting in a museum is that it was an antique like everything else in it.
