When you eat a hamburger or a chicken patty do you wonder how they slaughter those animals?. There is an ethic with hunters that you make sure nothing suffers. Poachers are different and I think your narrow minded ideology has you confusing the two.

  killing a little baby cow by bashing it scull open with a hammer so you can have good steak ? or

Slicing the throat of a baby pig so you can have baby back ribs I guess that is o.k. !

As for shooting a deer that is most likely to die a slow death from starvation is a mortal sin ?
