When Schopenhauer points to the denial of the will as some sort of ethical ideal, what exactly...?

...does he mean?

I understand his explanation of the will; what I don't understand, is how can one possibly "deny" it?

If you can be detailed, I'd really appreciate it.

  1. just cross reference with other like minded philosophers.

    your thoughts however lofty you think they are, are in fact all based in a will that is primeval and base(think Freud) and as such a higher man will discourage this.
