Hi.

I know it sounds a little early for me. I am 19 weeks pregnant with twin boys. Also I had my son 4 weeks early. So I'm wondering when I should get my bag ready?

Could anyone give me lists of things to bring in the hospital bag for me, hubby, and babies?

I'll probably end up having to stay for a while so please help.

THANKS

  1. NOW. You know it never hurts to be prepared One bag for snacks and juice and bathroom stuff. One more for very comfy clothes, Extra underwear and size ssimilarto pre-preg or bikinis made of cotton large enough to still put a maxi pad on. Best of luck. The snacks are for hubby, they wont have to go looking for the vending machine ;)

  2. I would say that since you are in a high risk pregnancy and have had one before, that you should start to pack no later than the end of October.  You can put all of your toiletries in there- brush, toothpaste, robe, slippers, comfy Jammie's, sanitary items, tylenol, lipstick and make up in there now, as they wont cause that big of a deal to have packed away.  also bring 4 outfits for the babies to take them home in just in case the weather is different.  You can bring along a small radio too or headphones.  Also make sure to pack up your emergency information and birth plan (which should already be registered at the doctors by then).

Have camera with film ready, and a list of every-ones number that needs to be contacted after the birth (leave that to daddy though- he Will have more strength than you)

As far as your hubby- he can bring just a change of clothes for himself if he is there for the long haul.  He can go home and change after that point.  He may consider bringing snacks or reading materials- those are helpful.  Tell him not to forget the blankets for the babies or the car seats- as most hospitals don't let you leave without one.

anything you forget, unless you live a far distance form the hospital can be brought later by your hubby or family/friends.

  3. I got mine ready pretty early too just in case.

    my list:

    for me...

    1. comfortable pj's

    2. underwear, socks, shampoo ect.. to take a shower

    3. comfortable slippers

    4. pads

    5. clothes for when I got out the hospital

    6. camera/video camcorder

    for baby...

    1. cute baby clothes (I stayed for 2 days so I took 3 outfits, for the 2 days and for the day I got out the hospital.)

    2. blankets

    3. receiving blankets

    4. I took diapers but I didn't need them because they gave me at the hospital.

    5. baby wipes (I didn't take this but this time I am because they gave me what looked like paper wipes to clean him and I had to wet them so this time I'm taking baby wipes because it's easier to wipe.)

    6. car seat

    husband...

    1. clothes (that's all I packed)

  4. It's still a bit early, since even if you deliver 4 weeks early, you still have a few months to go. But it's never to early to at least make sure you have everything on hand, or to start putting things aside.

    Here's a good checklist I found online:

  5. I would pack at around 28 weeks being that it's twins. sometimes they come very early. I would pack three bags. One for labor, one for your hospital stay and one for the trip home. That way you don't have to have all the stuff at the hospital at once. Here are some links to a useful list for each bag.

    and a printable checklist:

That should give you everything you need.

  6. h**l I packed mine 3 days before I had them I remember packing bathroom essentials and I packed a diaper bag for the babies but ended up not even taking it with me when I had them because I had that gut feeling that they weren't coming home with me...It's hard to think about but you really need to start preparing yourself for that now!!

  7. We always took an outfit for the baby to have pictures in, and an outfit for the baby to wear home, so you will want to double that. We also would take blankets to wrap them up in for the trip home.  My hubby never took much for himself a few sets of clothes and a little overnight kit.  I always took things to wear that made me feel comfortable, socks, house shoes. pjs, i pod, book, puzzle book, even a deck of cards.  I always packed my bag very early, eager, if you pack now you can put a few dryer sheets in your bag to help keep your clothes smelling fresh instead of them smelly a little funny later.
