When Should I send out Engagement Party Invites?

My fiance and I are having an engagement party the 1st weekend in August. When should we send out Invitations? We're pretty much only inviting our close friends, but some of them live far enough away they may need to make overnight arrangements.

You should send them out a month in advance and see who all RSVP's. Once you've done that: re-send the ones who did not RSVP. This way you make sure they get the invite (about 2.5 weeks before the party)  the second go around.
