Yes, you need them to be snug or you will slip around inside them and not have much control.

Yeah they are beter if they are tighter and feel nice and snug. it will give you more support.

What ever feels comfortable, because I wear my skates more loose than anybody I know, I don't know how anyone can tighten their skates that tight, but that's just me. I go on comfort, meaning you feel supported.

keep them snug or you'll lose controll and break your ankel!!!

Enough for your foot and ankle to feel supported, but not too tight that you cannot move the foot and you feel really restricted.  A bit like, when you over tighten your trainers, you are not comfortable walking, but slacken them off too much and they feel like they're slipping off.

You need to find a skate where your heel doesn't slip up - I had to get a special size with a narrow heel.  What a difference it makes!

You want it tight across the top of your foot and ankle, but your toes should be able to spread and wiggle a little.  You should be able to touch the end of the boot with your toes a little but they shouldn't be smashed in.

Lastly, you don't want to lace the top too tight or you won't be able to bend your knees enough.

you have to tighten the bottom/footed part tightly so that its snugly, and then get looser around the ankle/ leg part so that you'll be able to bend and get a good edge. ( - 8*

Its good 4 it to be REALLY tight...but...not toooo tight...otherwise it cuts off the circulation and REALLY hurts/gives u pins & needles when u take the skate off.
