Question:

When You Die, Do You Realize Your Dead? (And for how long)?

Scientific data has proven that the brain continues sending electrical wave signals for up to 37 hours after death. During this time, what goes through your mind?

I am Christian. I know what will happen to my soul after death. I know where I will be and whom I will be with. But what I don't know is if the brain is still attached symbiotically to the soul in some way so that reflection of your life's history is still enabled.

What do you think? Do you still "feel" after death? Do you suffer through 37 hours of realization? What do you think?

  1. no, your whole body stops working, so, maybe your brain keeps its functions for a few seconds after the heart stops.. so i think it is not enough time to 'realize' you're already dead

  2. This is obviously where NDE's come from.

There is no evidence that a soul exists anymore than there is evidence that your heart is where you feel emotions.  Bot concepts come from people that had very limited understanding of how the human body worked and even less understanding of the human brain.

    Edit:

While it seems obvious, determining "death" is not easy in all cases.  Throughout history many people have been considered dead and buried but later were shown to be alive.  The Jews around the first century had a custom where they would leave the tomb open for three days, just in case.

  3. according to the bible, dead knows nothing at all!

  4. um

u cant die then come back to life

  5. No, you don't realize it...because you are dead.  Forever.

  6. Hair and nails continue to grow.  Your brain does not have cognitive functions.

Read what the Bible, which is the only reliable source for data on this, states.  Psalms 146;4 and Eccles. 9:5, 10.

    "His spirit goes out, he goes back to his ground;

In that day his thoughts do perish.....For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all, neither do they anymore have wages, because the remembrance of them has been forgotten. .....10 All that your hand finds to do, do with your very power, for there is no work nor devising nor knowledge nor wisdom in She′ol, the place to which you are going."

Sheol is the same thing as h**l.

What man thinks does not matter.  Man's knowledge is very little.  God's Word is reliable concerning things man does not know.

  7. No, the mind is with the soul.  When we die, our gross bodies die, but our subtle body(which comprises of mind, intelligence and false ego) remain with us.  So, if the we don't have sufficient intelligence or it's just that we're too attached to our bodies and families, we might not know that we're already dead.  That's why there are ghosts.

  8. Up to now no one has returned to tell us!

  9. Hold on. Let me check...

  10. Yes,  I have been dead for 3 years now!!  And I am still answering questions on here!

Common Sense-  When you are dead you are dead there is no coming back!!  So don't even think about killing yourself to test the theory!

  11. Yes, but because the brain is active that does not necessarily mean that it is conscious...

  12. Ok, when I die, If I realize that I am dead, I swear that you will be the first one I contact to answer your questions

  13. Yikes...this is a tough question...YIKES!!!

  14. Some random electrical twitching are a far cry from thought.

Other than that Idk. I've never been dead.

  15. Well, the last time I was dead it took me about 10 minuets to realise. I must have been dead for 3 days or so.

  16. Hopefully it will be 37 hours of wet dreams.

  17. You would have to ask someone that has been pronounced dead but ended up living.

You'd also have to factor in the way of death...if lets say you fell into a volcanoe, I don't think you'd feel your ashes afterwords.

If you died of a gun shot, then yeah, I think you would probably have a very vexing coma-like stage for 37 hours
