  1. I did buy baby magazines but only ever for the freebies. Now my baby is born i no longer buy the baby magazines unless they have a really good freebie inside them.

  2. I had a few pregnancy books, and they were my bibles. However once my son was born, I might as well have read nothing. I still felt like I was starting from scratch. Nothing prepares you for a newborn!

I did buy 3 different parenting magazines once they were born and I did find they had a lot of very useful articles. I only just stopped subscribing to them last year, when my youngest was 1.

  3. No i didn't i went to my local library and got it all for free.I found them very useful as i was prepared for all scenarios and there were no surprises for me when i did give birth.

  4. im 29 weeks with first baby boy, i buy prima magazine every month just like reading the stories and peoples experiences x

  5. I just read them to pass the time. I found Pregnancy and birth practically said the same things every month but i was so excited that i read everything i could about my baby. I found the NHS pregnancy book quite good and the Bounty magazines quite good aswell.

  6. Not at all lol.  I kept reading them though because they excited me for what was going to come.  They were fun to read and put me in that "I can't wait" frame of mind.  The only really useful information for me was "What to Expect When You're Expecting", and asking other people what different pains, feelings, emotions and things mean.

  7. yes I did all that.I was 17 when I was first pregnant, and hadn't a clue.I went to the birthing unit and was taught relaxation techniques (pretend your on a hot beach and the waves are lapping at your feet) yeah right, that all went out the window by the time real labour kicked in.I don't think anything can prepare you as every ones pregnancy, labour and subsequent child are different.

  8. No

Most of the magazine I got just showed up in my mailbox, free.

They didn't "prepare" me, but I'll tell you what did - A Baby Story on TLC.  I watched that show like 4 times a day and when it came my turn to go into labor, It was like it was just another episode (I know that sounds weird!).  It really did help, though.

  9. No I didn't, I got so much advice from friends and family.

  10. Yes, I used to read some. They helped me to learn about other people's experiences and get opinions on products that were good to use etc.

    Didn't have twins though!

..and I agree , nothing can actually prepare you for the ACTUAL birth - you need to experience that for yourself but the magazines were interesting and informative about pregnancy and motherhood at times

  11. No...I did not buy no magazines but i got those little free ones at the doctor and no it did not help me with anything.

  12. No amount of magazines can prepare you lol. they always leave out the important stuff that us parents are just "supposed" to automatically know!
