When a Poker game has a limit of $5, what does that mean?

  1. I've never heard of a $5 "limit", but I've heard of $5 stakes.  That usually means the minimum bet is $5.

    Unless you're talking about "fixed" limit, in which case the bet is fixed at $5.


  2. It is a very expensive game possibly for the average person. It means you can not bet, on one bet more than $5. Well, if you have five rounds of betting, you could have to bet $25 to stay in the game. A person can easily win or lose one thousand dollars in such a game, or more.

  3. A limit of $5 means that the highest amount any one raise can be is $5. So if we assume that there can be a maximum of 4 raises per round of betting, you can stand to lose $20 per round times 4 rounds of betting = $80 per hand. This doesn't even include the blinds.

  4. no it means you can not bet more than $5.00 but you each person at the table can raise so you can win and lose a whole lot of money$$$$$$
