When a baby is in a mothers tummy do they have bowel moments?

k i know they pee in u the whole time they are in you but do they have bowel moments if so where dose it go

  1. the baby should not have bowel movements while still in utero. sometimes this will occur in late pregnancy. it's called a meconium birth. it's usually due to some type of stress on the baby. such as the baby being overdue. if the baby does have a bowel movement before birth it has a chance of breathing that deep into it's lungs when it takes it's first breath. this can cause severe lung problems and even death.


  2. Sometimes, if the baby is overdue they will have their first bowel movement while still in utero.  This can be potentially dangerous, as the waste contains toxins and such.  If your water breaks, and it is a greenish color, you should go to the hospital ASAP if you aren't already there.  Or, if having a homebirth, call your midwife and consult her opinion.

  3. It goes thru the umbilical cord.  That's what it's for.  I never heard of a baby in utero peeing inside you.  That's lethal and dangerous.
