When a butterfly dies if it's on a wall or something, does it remain attached to the wall or does it fall off?

I seen a butterfly on a cement wall at a gas station and it was just a little odd because it was very windy, so its' wings were getting blown around. Also, I was able to get very close to it to take a picture without it getting scared and flying off. Did I take pictures of a dead butterfly???

Butterflies and other insects have tiny hairs on their feet that help them grip onto things, and cement has a lot of texture, so it was probably easy to hold on.  If it was dead and getting blown around, I would think it would have been blown off. It was probably too busy holding on to notice you.
