  1. If it's only a light cable for domestic use, then a rubber or plastic grommet would suffice, however, if it's carrying heavy current or is in a dangerous enviroment, ie, a garage or somewhere where gas or inflammable fumes are present, then propper metal (Usually brass), glands should be used.


  2. I would use a rubber grommit purchased from the local electrical wholesalers.

  3. Your question needs more clarification.

    Most often cable is run in 'conduit' which is either a plastic 'pipe' or a metal 'pipe. If the cable runs directly thru a cabinet or wall or some such thing, conduit is uses. Otherwise you can put what is called a 'grommet' (a thick round rubber washer with a hole in the middle of it) in the hole in the sheet metal and run the cable thru it.
