Question:

When a call-in talk show does the show from another location--not just a local remote show where they can?

answer the phones at the home station and remote-connect them to the host at the local remote show--but when they temporarily move to another STATION, like in another state, such as when they're using a sub from that other state, how do they get the phone lines routed over to that other station in order for us to be able to call the other place with the same number?

For example, as I write this--or at least a few days ago, but I haven't listened just barely today to know how currently--Sean Hannity is on vacation. So right now, Scott Hennen is subbing in, but he's clear in another state! Yet we can still call that same old phone number, 800-941-SEAN, and talk with Scott in the other state.

Okay, is that just a simple operation by the phone company/companies to piggyback the 800 number to the regular phone numbers in the other state, or is there more involved than that? And if so, what?

Will you come back a little later and see my responses to your answers, please?

Thanks!

  1. there usually part of the same company so they have a guy workng at the local radio station and the crew at the other site getting calls transfered to them.

  2. My guess is like everyone else and just have the phone calls rerouted which is a normal service that the telephone company offers most anybody with landline phones.

At a remote, either the call is transfered to a local phone on the site, remote fed thru a link, or to a cell phone.
