    Some of the material here MAY be useful for you. There are valuable insights in the FAQ.

    Something of interest is that prior to the 1800s, the Cherokee had no WRITTEN language/ alphabet. The written form was created or developed by George Gist aka Sequoyah.  Thus.. any "records", etc would have been created by others.

    I am not clear at all on what you mean by that person's "paper work".  I think you are going to need to be more specific as to a particular person, or time and place.


  2. Chiefs are elected and the tribal council has all of the records. That doesn't mean they'll share the information with the outside world, but they do have it.
