  1. My Amended TX bcert:

my name all changed, my aparents names and ages at time of my birth used, hospital I was born at removed and replace with my adoptive parents home address; the best part... "children born to this mother" filled in with the number of adoptees in the family (amother did not ever give birth).

  2. time of the childs birth.

  3. I have to disagree with JulieJ, I am not sure what happened whith your case but that is not the norm at all. I have 4 adopted children and the only thing changed was the parents names. Not their ages, names ( their names given by their birth moms were kept) or birthdates, or city or anything.

  4. Their current age.

  5. Hi Tynesha,

Speaking as an adult adoptee adopted at the age of 2 and 1/2, I will tell you what is on my altered birth certificate from Illinois.

Name:  First, middle, & last names were all changed to the adopter's choices of names.

Place of Birth:  Changed from my actual city of birth to where the adopters lived at the time.

Names of Mother & Father:  Changed to the adopter's names.

AGES OF PARENTS:  Changed to the ages the adopters would have been if they had actually given birth to me!

Weight & Length at birth, Hospital name, Attending Doctor, Previous births, Footprint, and all other pertinent information:  All left blank!

These things are done in an attempt to distort reality & maintain an illusion that a child was born to somebody other than who he/she was actually born to.  In some cases, it's done to permanently deceive the child unless they were old enough at the time of the adoption to know better.

Unless adoptees are from one of 6 U.S. states, their original document will NEVER legally be returned to them, even if it was an "open adoption."  Not at age 18, not at 21, not ever.  Now you can see why many adoptees consider their altered birth certificates to be government-issued forged documents.

This looks like a good time to mention that if anyone would like to help restore the rights of adult adoptees, there is a demonstration July 22, 2008, at the National Conference of State Legislature’s Annual Meeting in New Orleans, LA.  See link for further details.

    Thank you very much,

    julie

Edit to add:  Tynesha, I think some people here misunderstood your question.  You were asking if the age of the PARENTS was changed on the adopted child's altered birth certificate to reflect how old the adoptive parents would have been at the time of the child's birth if that child had been born to them, & that's what I included in my answer, which was yes.   Some people here thought you were asking if the CHILD'S age was changed on the altered birth certificate, so they said no.

Although I have heard of cases where the child's date of birth was changed as well, it's not the norm, & it didn't happen in my case either.

  6. I adopted internationally and I have a copy of my son's original birth certificate with his mom's name on it and then on his new birth certificate it simply says my name and my husbands name as father and mother.....but everything else is the same.

  7. No age is put, just the birth dates of all parties.

Edit:  To counter what Julie J. said - the birth certificates of my three adopted children is the same as their originals, except that instead of the bio parents, my husband and I are listed.  All other stats were left the same - place, date and other birth info is as it was on the original.  We left their first names as they were, but changed only the middle and (obviously) last names.

  8. Does it matter.  The 'birth certificate' is not an accurate unadulterated record of an adopted child's birth anyways

  9. well on my adopted birth certificate it has the age of when they adopted me not when they would have had me. Guess depends on the state you are living in .Mine was ky
