  1. An employer is free to ask about prior convictions, and you can honestly answer "no".  Employers can not ask about arrests not ending in conviction.

  2. How could they refrain from asking before knowing the answer?  No law prohibits asking about your criminal history.  The propriety of the answer depends upon both the exact question that is asked, and the effect of expungement under state law.  Dismissal is generally seen as negating a conviction, as though it never occurred, but expungement is quite different.

  3. If you want the job, be truthful.

    Anything else is dishonest.

  4. if it was dismissed that means you have not criminal record so you answer no because the answer is no you have not been convicted of a crime. as far as expunged goes this means that if you are arrested for anything ever again they will not see that you were ever arrested before. just know that you are only allowed one expungment in your lifetime.
