Thinking of becoming one for the free donuts, or is that just a myth too?

  1. No, there are no employee discounts but you could probably use coupons for donuts to reduce the cost of the ticket.

  2. I'm not a cop but that would be insulting.

If I owned a shop, I would give them free food, especially if it was in the evening.  It would be safer having a cop hanging around.

  3. No you dont pay anything

  4. Probably not but if he's friends with the cop, he might get off the hook. Who knows......

  5. I agree with Chief on all points, but would like to make one comment about having to worry about the officer getting the ticket not backing you up.  It's a sad state of affairs if an officer won't back you up because you gave them a ticket, especially during a critical situation.  If you can't rely upon the person next to you because of a petty grudge for something they brought upon themselves, then that person has no business wearing a badge.  Just my 2 cents.

  6. No discounts but usually they give them a break as long as it wasn't too much over the speed limit and they are in good standings with the department. No free donuts where I live.

  7. GENERALLY, Officers do not write other officers for minor violations.  It is an unwritten code called "professional courtesy."  There are several reasons for this.  One is that officer may need the other officer to back him up someday, and it is a whole lot easier to back somebody up if your not remembering a bad incident that happened sometime ago.  The other reason is that cops risk there lives everyday.  They work long hours and come home late to upset wives and children.  They watch their brothers in blue fall or become injured for life.  They also have to deal with politics and bureaucracy.  Each police officer knows this and tries to relieve the daily stress on each other as much as possible.

Major violations are another story.  If a police officer gets caught driving under the influence, that's intolerable with most officers,  going too fast intentionally can also be unforgivable.  If I stop a police officer and he is speeding but not intentionally and not excessively, then I can forgive that too.  Keep in mind I also give the average joe breaks like this too when the situation calls for it.

  8. i, personally, have not and will not give another cop a ticket for speeding.  the county i work in does not even have a donut shop so we dont eat them.  and if you did take something as a bribe... youd be fired and or go to jail.  the person who offered the bribe could go to jail also.

  9. No. and Yes.
