Say that a duke and his wife, a duchess, produce only one child: a daughter. Once the parents both die, what title does the daughter inherit? Does she become duchess by right or courtesy? What if this daughter marries a Prince, who only has a mother (the Queen), since his father has died?

  1. a orphan

  2. If the daughter is the sole heir she becomes the duchess. If she marries a prince, she becomes a princess. From all that I've read,it appears that a non-royal woman assumes her husband's title ,but a man doesn't assume his royal wife's title.

As to the part about the Queen...is she the regent? If she was only a consort and the prince was her heir, that would make him King,so a wife would be Queen Consort and his mother would be the Dowager Queen or King Mother. If he wasn't the heir he'd still be the prince.

Many royal princes also carry other titles as well as that of prince. Prince Andrew is also the Duke of York,so when Sarah Ferguson married him she became Princess Andrew,Duchess of York.

  3. A 'DUCK'

  4. Depends on the country.

In the UK it depends on whether the Duke is a royal duke (i.r. has the title HRH as well as "Duke of". e.g Prince Andrew is Duke of York as well as HRH and his daughters have the title "Princess " as he's a royal duke.

  5. Lady so n so.Title will not be passed on, sorry

  6. She becomes a Duchess by right and title.

She can then pass the title on to her oldest son when she marries and has children.

The second part of your question is bit confusing...But if she married a prince, (who was of the royal blood, regardless whether it was his mother or father who was the royal), then she'd inherit the HRH title, as well as keeping the title of Duchess.

    Hope this answered your question,

    Peace.

  7. She becomes a Duchess by right and title
