Maybe I should have been more specific. When the food goes into the STOMACH of the fish, does water also go in at the same time?

  1. Let me answer your question with another question... How do you keep from breathing in air when you eat "food" ?

  2. Remember that a fish has gills to keep water out.So if the fish swallows food the water flows directly out the gills.

  3. It has tentacles that catches the food and throws it into the stomach.

  4. they burp it out thru their gills

  5. Just as a fish breathes, it takes in water through it's mouth and the oxygen is filtered through the gills. When a fish eats, yes it takes in water through it's mouth and the process is the same, but it also swallows the food.

  6. well it probably swallows loads of water and spits it back out
