  1. Yes. Just as the ball exerted a force on the pavement, the pavement will also exert a force, which is equal to the force by the ball, but in another direction-i.e. upward, that's why the ball will go upward.

  2. Yes,

According to Newton's 3rd Law, the Earth itself experiences an equal and opposite force to that acting on the falling object, meaning that the Earth also accelerates towards the object. However, because the mass of the Earth is huge, the acceleration of the Earth by this same force is negligible, when measured relative to the system's center of mass.

    For short:

"For every action there is a complete and opposite reaction."

-e.g.: you drop the ball onto the pavement,it will bounce back up but not as high, because of earth's gravity

  3. Newton stated in his third law of motion that action and reaction are equal in magnitude but opposite in direction.

dropping of golf ball ==> action

bouncing back of golf ball ==> reaction

that's why the golf ball bounces back in the opposite direction to the applied force ( upwards ) with the same force applied to drop it.

  4. In that golf ball there are molecules that are elastic. Stretch them and they will spring back. Squeeze them and they will spring back. When the ball hits the ground, it is pushed back, upwards, by the pavement and the internal spring of the ball. If the ball is simply dropped, it will bounce back, but to less than the height it was released because of friction of that internal spring. Friction gets into everything.

  5. newton's law:

action and reaction is always equal & opposite (if no external force eg friction etc affect it)
