When a golfer wins a major championship, do they get to keep the trophy forever, or do they...?

...have to give it back after keeping it in their trophy case for a year? I notice that some of the trophies have names of all the past champions engraved on them, which leads me to believe they only get to 'borrow' the trophy for a year. Do they get replicas to keep?

Trophy is theirs to keep.  

The trophys that stay at the particular golf course have the names and years of the winners on them and those stay at the country club.
