  1. If the law says the male line is preferred, then his younger brother, or his nephews, etc would be next.

If the law says anyone can inherit, then his closest sibling or relative (male or female) would be next.

  2. the closest male relative, ex a cousin

a daughter, or the daughter's husband

    sometimes his wife

or a civil war starts and i become king!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. His siblings, brothers and sisters.Aunts and uncles and cousins are also a possibility. There is such a thing called a line of succession that lists all heirs to the throne. For instance,if Charles,Prince of Wales did not have children, his brother Andrew, then Andrew's daughters, would be next in line to the throne.

  4. It depends what country it is, but the next-closest relative usually ascends.

  5. It depends entirely on which country you are talking about.

In the United Kingdom, the crown would go first to a king's eldest brother, then to his descendants, then to a next brother, and so on until one reaches his sisters and their descendants, in order of age. This is called male preference primogeniture.

In Liechtenstein, and other monarchies which allow male-only succession (Salic law), the crown would go first to a brother, the brother's sons and descendants, the next brother's son and descendants, then to surviving uncles and their descendants, etc.

In countries with full cognatic primogeniture, the next eldest sibling regardless of s*x would succeed, then their descendants, then the next sibling, etc.

In Saudi Arabia, heirs are nominated. The crown has been passed amongst brothers and presumably will continue to do so until all the brothers are dead whereupon a son of one of the brothers will become king.

There are a number of other systems... Elective monarchies, such as Poland-Lithuania and so on. For details, see the linked Wikipedia article.
