When a lake is drained, what happens to the fish??

Generally, this is done to a reservoir, not a natural lake. Most of the water reaches the reservoir or lake by way of feeder streams, to which the fish retreat. There is usually a bit of stream running through the bed of the reservoir. This may hold fish at first but they generaly retreat upstream when dredging (if any) starts. Some may stay if the reason for draining was dam repair. Within a year of refilling the reservoir, populations of fishes should be back to normal.

The Fish Do Not Die. They will sooner or later. I believe the fish sense what is going to happen as all animals do. They will try to escape this happening, but most will fail. The people will try to help the fish move, but will end up in greed either selling the helpless fish or eating them. It is strange why fish need oxygen from the water. Some fish have learned, a evidence of evolution, of how to store oxygen or breathe plain air itself. They must adapt to their surroundings. When the water is drained, there will be a mass party. Not by humans, but of the animals. Bears, wolves, eagles, and other animals from all parts of the world will come to feast. When the sun rises, there will be nothing left but puddles and the footprints of life...........

they will die due to overpopulating the reamining water, which cannot support as much life.  if there is an outlet, like a stream, running from the lake, there is the possibility that some of the fish may migrate.

draining of lakes is only done when needed. i don't exactly know. maybe they catch the fish first then they drain the water of the lake. but we all know that the fish in the lake will certainly die.
