  1. Of Course You Can. But Check With Your Doctor Just In Case.

  2. i'm sure you can, but you should speak to your obstetrician or midwife, they will know best.

  3. It's been done before. But it's always best to see a dietitian first

  4. I think this in my mind would be dangerous as a unborn baby needs alot of iron and vitamins ask your doctor but i still would be careful on this one as a unborn baby is so delicate and anything can be dangerous just like alcohol and drugs!! Good luck !

  5. Yes, absolutely. But bear in mind that some doctors, obstetricians and midwifes and the like may not have had much education on vegan diets period, and may have even less on vegan diets during pregnancy and breastfeeding. So you may have to do some research if you haven't done already on vegan diets, and educate these people if necessary. Expect some degree of disbelief and hostility from such people initially.

Find a good professional if you can who is trained in this that can help you. And hold your own: the unbiased scientific evidence seems to indicate that a well planned vegan diet is the best start in life for children.

  6. Yes, veganism is healthy and safe for all stages of grown and development, including pregnancy and lactation.

  7. ABSOLUTELY! Especially during pregnancy, and even about a year before and after that, all mothers should abstain from animal food and alcohol.

I have read that Virgin Mary was a raw vegan all her life, and even her mother Anna was that too. And think of what a wonderful child she gave birth to.

  8. According to the US National Institute of Health, "with appropriate food choices, vegan diets can be adequate for children at all ages." The American Dietetic Association also considers well-planned vegan diets "appropriate for all stages of the life cycle, including pregnancy and lactation," but recommends that vegan mothers supplement for iron, vitamin D, and vitamin B12. Vitamin B12 deficiency in lactating vegetarian mothers has been linked to deficiencies and neurological disorders in their children

  9. yes you can of course just keep makign sure you both are geting the proper vitamins, just as it should be if you are not a vegan. :)

    congrats though!!

  10. ABSOLUTELY.

The American Dietetic Association, the world's largest organization of nutrition professionals, put out a position paper jointly with their Canadian counterpart.  In that position paper they stated that properly planned vegetarian and vegan diets are appropriate for ALL life stages, including pregnancy, lactation and infancy.

And a quote from the American Dietetic Association and the American Academy of Pediatrics:

"Vegan and vegetarian diets are able to satisfy all infant nutritional needs and promote normal infant growth."

There are many good books available on the subject should you be considering a vegan pregnancy.  "Raising Vegetarian Children" by Joanne Stepaniak, M.S.Ed. and Vesanto Melina, M.S., R.D.

  11. Yes, there is no denying that a vegan woman can provide everything that any other woman could to her fetus or infant. Veganism is compatible with all life stages from conception to extreme maturity,
