  1. Yes, it will change.  Depending on the type of adoption that you do you will either have one or two.  The type of adoption we are doing...the original will be a "closed document" until our child reaches a certain age for it to be disclosed only to him.

  2. My birth certificate was sealed and a new one issued claiming I am the product of the union of two infertile people.  I suspect this is part of why so many adoptees my age grew up feeling we were somehow not real.

  3. his original birth certificate will be sealed and he'll be issued a new one that says you're his mother of birth.

yeah, that REALLY deserved a thumbs down...thanks noodles

  4. In my state is does. It reflects the adoptive parents name, age, and city

  5. Yes, the actual "BIRTH" info is removed / changed. Which in my opinion totally voids the fact that its a BIRTH certificate.  At birth a child is born to a child from a mother, and father, given a name.  At adoption, they receive new family with a new name, it seems like it'd be more legal to issue a certificate of adoption showing the name change.  But - that's a birth parent's view.

  6. I am not sure how it works with step parent adoption, but I would assume that it works the same as adoption.  When we finalized the adoption of our son, we were issued a new birth certificate for him listing our names as parents.  It still listed "where" he was born but his bio parents' names were not on the paperwork.

  7. Yes, it's exactly as Gershom said.

(Don't worry Gersh hon I got your back) Thumbs Up Girlfriend!!

  8. I'm an adoptee in TX, and mine did. I have 2 birth certificates. One from when I was born, showing no father. The second shows my father as the man who adopted me.

  9. mine did. my old name was blacked out and a different one put in. as well as the parents name.
