When a plant is dormant during the summer....?

Do I water it less in the summer?

Do I give it plenty of sunlight in the summer?

Do I water it more in the winter?

Feterlizer summer or winter?

I'm trying to think which plants are dormant in summer and can only think of spring bulbs.  They don't want water while dormant and appreciate fertiliser before, during and immediately after flowering to build up reserves for the following season.

When any plant is dormant it is in 'sleep' mode and doesn't want attention.  Bulbs gain their strength again after flowering through the absorption of the leaves into the corm.  That is why it is recommended that you do not cut off the leaves in an attempt to tidy them up.

By dormant, do you mean not blooming or truly dormant and not growing; maybe even dying back. It really depends on the type of plant and your definition of dormant.  Most plants, when truly dormant, need slight or no watering at all.  Plumeria, for instance, can be pulled out of the dirt and over-wintered just about anywhere.  Left in the dirt and protected from freezes and frost it will often retain it's leaves but not grow. This is a dormant stage for plumeria.

Pachypodium namaquanum is a winter grower, it grows from August to November. Give it water during this growing period, and minimum to no water the rest of the time

This is for most plants. Some may not have these needs.
