I hear some of the best announcers around saying the "hitter" is so-and-so, but shouldn't they refer to him as a "batter" since he may not hit the ball at all?? Maybe I'm just a baseball purist. What term is correct?

  1. mas puuuto...

  2. when he steps up to the plate the can be a good batter like he can hit the ball sometimes, or  a hitter witch  is a super good batter

so it is like  the same thing

    hope this helped

  3. He is officially referred to as the batter and when he hits the ball he is called the batter-runner.

  4. hes a batter trying to get a hit

  5. That is splitting hairs. I guess you can say he should be a batter. But he already hit the ball at a previous at bat which would make him a hitter. With that in mind is a pitcher a player until he throws the first pitch?

  6. When a guy is playing between second and third, is he a "shortstop" or an "infielder?"

  7. It really doesnt matter

  8. he is a batter who is hoping to become a hitter......and what the h**l does it matter??? you're not a baseball purist you're an idiot.  A purist would listen to the radio broadcast and keep score on his scorecard, do you do either?? didn't think so

  9. both are correct, and if you were a purist, you would know. To me, purist would know the game and would have been watching (or listening) for awhile.
