  1. depends on the restaurant.

any place with the word 'Mom' in it, usually the "Special" is yesterday's leftovers in a casserole.

  2. I cannot help but think that some animal was tragically killed on the road near this establishment and the the restaurant does not want the meat to go to waste

  3. both

Sometimes yes the food has to be sold soon or it will go bad, or they have come up with a new recipe and they would like to try it.   Some just have daily specials, that's just a way to attract people there.

  4. they made special of items that are over stocked...or sometimes its a new recipe that they want to introduce...

  5. depends friday there fresh buy sunday they just want to get rid of it.

  6. sometimes it is just a bunch of leftovers making it's debut for the fourth or fifth time on a plate. Like Soup of the Day, or Catch of the Day - sometimes these things imply leftovers - but many times it could mean that care was actually taken in order to make the dish special.

Just never order fish on a Monday...it's usually leftover from Friday......

  7. they want to gid rid of excessive items that they have received before they become unusable, rarely are they "special"

  8. basically yes! a special is what they ordered too much off or are not selling enough of, so they need to get rid of it before they take a loss, so they make a "special".

no its usually not someone who is proud of what theyve made, its just that someone doesnt know how to do a food order, and buy right amounts.

i worked at a place that would do that all the time.
