They must be in good condition and maybe never used. Are the sold or fitted to a new ship if it is a cruse line ship that is being broken up.

  1. Everything on board has a value and the lifeboats have value especially if they are in good condition and meet modern requirements. If not they can be broken up and the parts sold on especially things like the engine which will have only a few hours on the clock.

  2. When a ship is broken up any item that can be sold off is sold, that includes things like toilets taps, inflatable lifeboats and so on. Often they are either sold to a marine broker who will onsell them after having them recertified.  In the case of lowerable lifeboats they are often sold locally to fishermen etc or broken up.
