  1. Probably because they are too lazy to unlock the other one!

  2. personally i think they keep a camera on one of the doors and laugh at how many people walk into it expecting to be able to open it. And then use it for staff entertainment...

  3. Because they like to see us fumble around, trying to use the locked one.

  4. ONE FOR IN AND ONE FOR OUT!!!

  5. I don't know why.  I find it annoying though.  Or sometimes the whole front of the shop is sets of doors but most of the time you can try one and they will be locked and all the others open

  6. Usually one is for going in and one is for going out.  Unless you are talking about two sets of double doors then I see your point because it annoys me also.  I think the employee who is responsible for opening the doors when they open for the day was maybe just to lazy to open both.

  7. Because I work in retail I can give you a few reasons why only one of the double doors might be Opened. Sometimes the wind blows in a specific direction and if it is strong enough to hold the door open after someone has come in, they will keep that side locked to avoid all the stores heat/AC from going out the door.

Also, it is easier to watch for someone stealing while going out the door if there is a smaller portal to go through. There is less area to watch. With smaller stores, it is likely they use the closed door for merchandise as well, giving them a greater use of their floor space. They sometimes place merchandise in front of the closed door to maximize the amount of floor space they have to sell items. (This often happens at dollar stores.)

Many of the smaller businesses did not have the building built the way they wanted it. It was already standing and they just rent the space. Therefore they didn't have a choice if they wanted a double door system or a single door.

The final reason that I know of for one of the doors being locked is that it is broken. The doors in a store take a lot of abuse, it would not be a stretch to think that the door might be broken and that is why it is locked. (To prevent someone from getting hurt on it)

  8. I hate revolving doors or automated doors. I stand there waiting for them to open like a complete nerd - or I get stuck in the revolving ones and end up back outside. lol

  9. They enjoy watching people bang into the locked one.

  10. they don't. you have the right to use both doors if you want.
