When a truck equipped with retractable axles (tag axles, pusher axles) lifts the axles from the ground, and

then puts them back down, how long will it normally take before the air bags are full, carrying the same weight as what was carried before lifting the axles?

  1. I don't know for sure but I imagine only 5-15 seconds. The onboard compressors / storage tanks are pretty good at supplying air quickly because Semis have brake systems that run off air.


  2. rick this depends on a whole lot of variable. the tank capacities, the size of the feed lines, the type of valve used to operate and the size of the bags. add on the weight of the trailer (loaded or unloaded) 2 to 4 minutes could be acceptable.
