  1. maya,

I assume you are a student, so:

As "justbein" pointed out, the insect does not give live birth; it lays eggs. Therefore there is no mother/ daughter relationship.

You have heard of "the circle of life", it is more than just a song by Elton John. I must say here, however, it is one heck of a really good piece of song writing, see Lion King.

Well, the adult butterfly lays an egg, probably several. The egg hatches into a larva, you know this as a caterpillar, it eats a lot and develops into the pupal stage, Here it is wrapped in a sort of web called a chrysalis, all this usually on the under-side of a leaf. Eventually an adult butterfly emerges, flies around, doesn't eat anything, sips a bit of nectar through a straw-like proboscis (sort of nose-mouth), lays an egg, or more, and dies.

The circle of life begins anew.

  2. Not butterfly but larva(caterpillar) and i dont think so

  3. Butterflies are not mammals. They do not give birth. They are insects. Butterflies hatch from a chrysalis, where it implanted itself while in the caterpillar state. It comes out alone and takes it from there.
