When a claim is filed on your home and you have a deductible is it automatically deducted from your claim check or do you cash the check and send the deductible back?

  2. The deductible is the risk you were willing to assume when you insured the home. Example; you could afford to pay $1,000. of the loss. The loss came to $10,000. You assume the first thousand and the insurance company pays you nine thousand. Yes, they automatically deduct your deductible.
