Question:

When an internship is for "credit only" what does that mean?

I've tried contacting my school's career center but got back no answers. When an internship states that its for college credit only, how does that work? I've heard from other people that I would generally pay for the credits, which makes no sense and kind of sucks. Can someone please explain not in full story like details but the basics.

  1. This means that you would get credit for your transcript, and you would receive no paycheck from wherever you would do this internship. For credit--not for pay.

The idea, I think, is that you gain work experience and have something to add for your resume.

  2. Credit only means you are paying for your internship.

  3. college credit means that if you did the work and pass the test/exam or what ever requirement for the course/work, you'll receive "credit" for that class in the school computer data base.  The course will not have any letter grade (ie. A, B, C, D, F)

but merely tells later reviewers that you've taken this course, and you've passed it.

    good luck
