And wait until final call. Do all airlines have a final call for all remaining passengers.

  1. Yes.

  2. Yes you can wait - personally I dont because I want to put my carry on in the overhead bin and not under the seat in front of me.

I take the wrangling of people getting in their seats for the ability to be able to stretch my legs (if you can call it that - with the small room between seats) during the flight.

Just remenber that if you are not there when the close the cabin (aircraft's) door your out of luck.

  3. You can hold back.  But...

They'll make just one call and they'll shut the door if no passengers are in the waiting area even 15 Min's ahead of when they're supposed to and they won't open it when you arrive say 5 Min's prior to departure time, because the airplane will already be gone.

Plus if you do get on, you'll have to gate check any large bag because all the overheads will be full.

In the old days, the Captain used their authority to come back for a late passenger, but now with cheaper and cheaper tickets, the airlines are trying to move more and more airplanes and are discouraging Captains from doing this.

Most pilots are bearing the stress of 50% pay cuts, the loss of their pension, and working second jobs to make ends meet.  They're not going to care about a late passenger anymore.  Especially when you're only paying $200 one-way cross-country.

Pilots can barely concentrate on keeping the flight safe, because Airline Management, while giving each executive millions in bonus $$ each year, are skimping on pilot salaries, fuel, maintenance, and ground safety personnel.  All to keep ticket prices and pilot salaries as they were in 1980.

Hope you liked that cheap ticket.

Ticket prices go down, airplanes go down.  Crash.  Stop Greedy Airline Management.

  4. yes its okay to wait until last if you want. noboby will deny a paying passenger thier seat, unless you dont show up at the gate 15 minutes prior to takeoff
