When and how do you think mankind (not the world) will end?

I know in the past human population was dramatically decreased for some reason. But in the future when we cease to exist, what do you think will be the cause, war, disease, global catastrophe?

I think we will all die because of global warming, thats why we need to do ALL we can to help save the Earth, please, even if it is just switching off the light when nobodys in the room. Small changes make BIG differences <3 spread tha love <3

the sun will turn into a red giant( A stage in the life of a star) which will pull us all in with its strong gravity in a couple quadrillion years and then go supernova and turn into a black hole

The world will end in a few billion years when the sun explodes.

Mankind will be gone long before that.  I think it will be some natural disaster...a comet strike, a supervolcano, a virus, something like that.

George Carlin said that to the Earth, we're like a bunch of fleas, and it will find a way to shake us off at some point.

I think mankind will cease to exist long before the Earth will end. The end of humanity, or at least a significant reduction in population is due in about a thousand years or so, those of us that will have survived the mini ice age and the plagues to follow, will be diminished further by the polarity reversal of the Earth, knocking them back to the stone age. Eventually from there, humankind will cease. Many many years later, the Earth itself will have been pummeled by significant asteroids, solar flairs will diminish the ozone layer after that and after many more years,the Sun will expand and engulf the scorched remnant of the Earth. Either that or the whole bible theory, whatever works for ya.

The only wan we're ALL going to die is from a catastrophic event (like an asteroid, meteor or comet hitting earth).   Disease, war....etc will pare the population down but it won't kill everybody.

About 1.5-2 BILLION years from now as the sun brightens and cooks off the oceans-- then it expands to almost the orbit of Earth--- we will be dead long before this happens.

Well there are many self causes we can enflict upon our selves. who says it cant be all the reasons you mentioned? Lets say a disease did strike.... Its a possibilty that everyone did not die. Now lets say that disese carried a substance that ruined out O-zone layer. This would cause harmful sun rays to go through our atmosphere and cause 3rd degree burns, cancer and so on. Okay that killed off some more. Since so many people and loved ones have been dying the remaining humans break out in war. Whatever happens though mankinds existance can only be told by what actions we make.

when humans create computers so fast and so small (nanotech) and incorporate them into the human mind for quicker calculations, communications and memory storage. not to mention the nanotech being used to enhance the entire body. such as added strength, and regenerating tissues.

"Mankind" will probably end when we either evolve or (most likely, in my opinion) we engineer ourselves into something/s else.

We've read the human genome, and we're beginning to get enough understanding of genetic engineering that improving ourselves (or at least weeding out many detrimental traits) becomes a real possibility.

If we do colonize other planets, we might find that it's easier to change ourselves to better fit the planets than changing the planets to better fit us.  

On Mars, we might want humans with tougher skin and less need for O2, to protect against the cold and lack of atmosphere.  If we colonize asteroids, we might find that having an extra set of hands (instead of feet) would help our descendants get around better in microgravity or zero-g.
