  1. It depends on your location, club and temperature. Generally you may train after school or university but during hotter weather if applicable you may end up training in the mornings. Sometimes even twice a day. Also Rowing is a big commitment and you may find yourself training seven times a week. As most clubs/schools will also have ergo training where you may do weights but definitely ergos. These tend to be in the mornings so you may have to wake up early, although i used to wake up at 6:30 for mine.

But most importantly regardless of training times and everything, Rowing is a very big commitment and you will hate it at times but thats all the joys of rowing its a love hate relationship (always hate with ergos).

So i would recommend it and really morning trainings are not that bad especially if the club provides breakfast.

  2. yes

  3. It's more than likely that you will be rowing in the weeeeeee hours of the morning. It really depends what time your school/crew/club has the water booked.  Experienced crews usually have first choice of practice times and since you'll be in a novice boat you'll likely get the worst time of all.  However, you'll find that experienced, competitive rowers prefer to row early because most of them row at least twice everyday.  Practice times are really just chance. Even if you have an evening practice time, you probably shouldn't become a rower if you're not willing to get up early.  If you want to row competitively, you're going to need to make sacrifices.  Seriously.  Rowers are hard-core athletes and they won't put up with you if you slack off.  You'll be beat out of your seat (if you get one in the first place).  During the summer we have double rows everyday (one at 5:15am and one at 5:30pm).  We need to be at practice an hour before we are scheduled to be on the water to do our jog and core exercises.  If anyone in our crew is late our coach penalizes all of us and it never turns out pretty.

If you really want to row though, you should consider joining a recreational program.  They usually have adult rec programs where you row one or two evenings a week.  Your local rowing club should also have a Learn-to-Row program.  They will usually start you in a eight or a four.  Once you learn how to scull, if you enjoy it you should consider purchasing your own single.  Then you can store it at your club and row whenever you want.  Good luck and have fun. :)

  4. I go rowing and i train in the evenings and on sunday morning but not early sunday morning at 10 we start so no you dont.

  5. yes you will row in the morning

but its not as bad as you would think

    a) it opends up the rest of your day for homework and hanging out

    b) watching the sun rise while rowing is simplly amazing

    c) its get a lot easier after a week or two until you like walking up early

when the rowing happends depends on your coach

my team does eving rowing and moring rowing

and i prefere the morning as crazy as it sounds

so ya go out for the rowing team and set your alarm early
