  1. The American made this country great, and in fact it it wasn't for the big corporations, Eastern Europe would be speaking Germans and all of Asia would be speaking Japanese.

  2. Dump both Parties and Vote Constitution Party.

  3. Its long gone. This is nothing new.

  4. I am hoping that the closer we get to being a third world country the more people will pull there head out. From what I see so far, I think I am going to be disappointed...

  5. Well, all great empires eventually go into decline and we'll be no different.

In fact, technology has sped up the pace of change and it's likely that if we don't play our cards right we might not even exist as a country in 50 years.

Unfortunately its not as simple as declaring war on "corporations" or politicians, because politicians are simply those we elect to act for us and corporations are where we put our money.  Most of us have our retirement money invested - through mutual funds or less directly (medicare, medicaid, social security) in the health of the U.S. economy.

Not sure what the solution is, but I suspect it has to do with us recognizing that as 4% of the world's population we can not continue consuming a disproportionately high % of the worlds resources.

  6. just about 99.9% of america hasn't woken up, and probably won't

there are just a few select people who have noticed this, and know for a fact that we are turning communist and such, and know that america has fallen completely apart

  7. Okay, assume I've woken up. Now what do I do?  I can't afford a farm so I can't grow my own crops and raise my own animals and make my own clothes.  How do a multitude of people get off the corporate breast?

  8. You're asking this on Yahoo Answers.  How enlightened do you want me to believe you are?

  9. There really is no good answer to this question. It is true that Middle America is getting clobbered. MSNBC’s Web site recently reported on the impact that today’s bad times are having on the middle fifth of wage earners. This is the middle of Middle America -- 40 percent make less and 40 percent make more than they do.

The average annual after-tax income for this group of Americans was $43,799 in 2006, the latest year for which statistics are available. Average costs broke down as follows: housing, $14,204; transportation, $7,662; food, $5,614; medical care, $2,647; and $1,680 for clothing. Added up, that comes to $31,807, leaving the family with $11,992, or $230 a week.

That might sound like a lot of money. But look at what’s not on the list. There’s no money for a 401k retirement plan or a college savings fund. There’s no money for a rainy day fund for when the refrigerator, stove, washer or dryer dies. There’s no money for glasses or visits to the dentist. There’s no money for credit card or monthly loan payments. There’s no money for vacations, movies or dining out. These families were getting by as long as nothing went wrong. And boy, have things gone wrong in the last two years.

Since 2006, those expenses have increased by $3,542, and wages haven’t kept up, increasing -- for those who are lucky enough to get pay hikes -- by 3.2 percent in the last year. If the 2006 spending and income are updated to reflect these increases, the middle fifth now has $189 a week in spending money. That’s quite a drop in just two years.

If the middle of middle-class America has it tough, it’s even worse for those in the bottom 40 percent. The pain is real. Middle-class America is in a fight for its survival. How its problems are addressed will go a long way toward determining what the United States will look like 20 or 30 years from now.

  13. As an older fellow once said to me a few years back.  "It is going to get worse before it gets better"
