  1. There are flights from many UK airports, in Jan 2009, to view them.

  2. North Scotland in Autumn

  3. Scotland .  The further north the better, usually late Autumn, but has to be the right weather conditions.  We call them the heavenly dancers.   I have seen them only once, a great sight. I hope you are lucky.

  4. You can't, in England sorry! You have to go to Scotland or Wales.

  5. Blackpool - starting in October.

  8. Aberdeen and anything north of it sightings of the northern lights can never be guaranteed, even when the conditions seem just right

  9. The further North the better. Shetland has a fair few sightings, they call them "peerie dancers".

They are most common between Dec-Feb.

  10. 3 days after a solar flare(sun)head as far north as U can. there is a website with information on solar flares

  11. Anywhere past the Watford gap.

  12. scotland!

  13. The Aurora Borealis or "Northern Lights" are best viewed North of the borders and away from as much light pollution as possible, i.e. not in cities like Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee etc. However, history records the most southerly sighting in modern times as the Rotherham/Sheffield/Doncaster area as recently as 2005. One of the best places in the world to see them though is Anchorage, Alaska, where they are visible on average 3 or 4 times a week - I have a cousin that lives there.

The best time of year to see them in highlands is probably between October and February. Happy Aurora hunting!

  14. Blackpool!

  15. In the north, especially Scotland, these are sometimes visible.
