  1. He's still officially a Democrat, but he also sees his party becoming corrupt and heavily partisan.

It's no coincidence that Lieberman would be unhappy with his party when the Democrat controlled Congress is the most inept, least accomplished and most unpopular in US history.

  2. Lieberman isn't a republican, he's a neocon.

  3. Because the Democratic Party abandoned National Security.

  4. He didn't yet at least not officially.

  5. He hasn't.  He has taken a more independent stance since getting into the senate however

  6. He didn't. He's an independent and works with the dem caucus. The dems did put him under the bus so to speak during the last election as they supported his dem opponent. He then switched to independent and still won.

Lieberman like McCain has always been a man who has integrity.

  7. Liebermen is a loser

who puts the state of israel, before his own country in making his decisions.

  8. Bush needed someone other than John McCain to support his war.

  9. He didn't switch to republican, rather to independent, but since he supports McCain, he spoke at the Republican convention.  He switched because the democrats in his state blackballed him, so he ran as an independent and won.  He is a great guy that is doing to country a lot of good as he pushes us away from partisanship.

  10. years ago........... he just never made it official.

  11. That's' a very good question, or set of questions. I really don't know when he decided to switch from everything he believed in to support the things he spend most of his life fighting against. Of course, he has a right to be on any side he wishes, but why he would do this is a question only he can answer. My thinking is: there must be penance paid for this lack of loyalty. When he ran for president over and over and over again, none of his fellow democrats came out against him, and supported the other party. None. Now he does this? There should be a swift and blinding payment extracted for this betrayal.

  12. He went Independent in 2004.

He just knows that "eloquence is no substitute for a record".

  13. When he finally wised up, just like me.

  14. Because when the Democratic party collectively decided to criticize the invasion of Iraq, Lieberman stood behind the decision to invade, then, he lost a primary battle, then, won his seat as an independent democrat, he can still caucus in Congress as a Democrat.

  15. The wars in Iraq (I  &  II) have been instrumental in Lieberman's switch. He is doing what he thinks he can to protect Israel. Why he doesn't move there, I don't know, because THAT is where his loyalties lie.

  16. Joe Lieberman hasn't switched to the GOP.  He is an independent who still caucuses with the Democrats.  He's conservative when it comes to the war and national security, but the rest of his voting record is very VERY liberal - taxes, global warming, social issues, etc.

I do think that he might switch one day - especially when the Democrats abandon him after the election.

  17. He is an independant.... So far.

How does Palin/Lieberman 2012 sound to you ?

  18. when he didn't want to be called a p***y anymore
