  1. Ok, so i read this article explaining the origin of these two colors and why they were assigned to boys and girls. So, boys were assigned blue during medieval times because blue was believed to protect baby boys from evil. Meanwhile, girls got pink because it represented innocence and purity.

  2. its just developed over the years..

    thats society for you. XO

  3. Well this one really is a brain teaser..........like which came first the chicken or the egg lol!

  4. In Western culture, the practice of assigning pink to an individual gender began in the 1920s. From then until the 1940s, pink was considered appropriate for boys because it was the more masculine and decided color while blue was considered appropriate for girls because it was the more delicate and dainty color. Since the 1940s, the societal norm apparently inverted so that pink became appropriate for girls and blue appropriate for boys, a practice that has continued into the 21st century.

  5. Here's the best historical account  could find:

"The idea that girls should be dressed in pink and boys in blue only came about in the 1920s, and didn't really become standard practice until the 1930s. There doesn't seem to have been any agreed colour distinction before that. A recent study suggests that this preference between the sexes evolved because a male's eye was more attracted to a clear blue sky for hunting, while a female's was more drawn to the reds and pinks of fruits and berries while foraging."

  6. Long before even my time B...

  7. It started around the time of the Romans.  Male children were considered more important and so (in the rich households, anyway), they didn't just want white blankets to wrap them up in. Blue dye was more expensive as it involved crushing the shells of thousands of marine animals (but I can't recall which ones) to extract the dye.

  8. i think it just happened over years. for some reason men likes blue and women liked pink. :)
