  1. The Queen does not have to bow to anyone. She does, however, kiss the hands of debutantes that are a daughter of a peer.

  2. A bow is the act of lowering the torso and head, a gesture most commonly used by the Koreans and the Japanese when greeting one another. In European traditional cultures, bowing is an exclusively male practice - females perform a related gesture called a "curtsey." A curtsey is a traditional gesture of greeting, in which a woman bends her knees while bowing her head. In more formal variants of the curtsey, the woman bends the knees outward (rather than straight ahead), often sweeping one foot behind her. She may also use her hands to hold her skirt out from her body.

Traditionally, women would curtsey for those of senior social rank just as men would bow. Today this practice has become less common. In European cultures it is traditional for women to curtsey in front of royalty. It may then be referred to as a court curtsey and is often especially deep and elaborate. Further, some female domestic workers curtsey for their employers

Note: Actually, the Queen does bow. During the funeral of the late Diana, Princess of Wales, the Queen was bowing to Diana's coffin as it passed Buckingham Palace, something unprecedented and unexpected. However, commentators have pointed out that it is more likely that she was, in actual fact, bowing to the Royal Standard draped over the coffin, as protocol dictates - rather than the coffin itself or contents thereof).

  3. There are no rules about which knee is bent for anyone, commoner or royal. And the Queen does not have to curtsy to any other person.

  4. A bow is from the waist down, you are getting mixed up with a curtsy.

  5. Nope they are all higher then you is all that matters.
