When applying for a cop, do they care about the credit rating number, or total debt, or both?

When applying for a cop in Ontario Canada (or RCMP), do they care about the credit rating number, or total debt oweing or both? I am just wanted to know if it worth to keep paying $17.99 a month for a credit alert service.

  1. Yes, your credit rating is considered. A bad credit rating shows a lack of responsibility.

    If you can offer explanation, such as a loss of a job or divorce, it probably won't exclude you. A history of poor financial decisions will exclude you.

Your credit rating and debt are considered in any police application.  They have found links to the amount of a person's debt in any job (that may deal with taking money, whether it's money that is seized as evidence, bail money, or even a cashier who you pay for your dinner) to the chances that person may be tempted to steal something.  If you have a reason for your debt, like a divorce or something, they will definitely take that into account.  If your debt is as a result if irresponsibility, you may be in trouble as far as the prospective job goes.
