Question:

When applying for citizenship through marriage, is there another INS interview?

My husband just applied for his U.S. citizenship (And, before you ask, he's Canadian, YES we married for love, and at no point was he ever an illegal alien). Anyway, not that it scares us, but we were curious as to if they do another interview to see if our married is "legitimate" like they did for his residency. He has had his residency for 4 years now, obtained though our marriage. Thanks!

  1. Yes there is another interview, but i don't think it is quite so intense as the permanent residence interview (my husband is going for his citizenship hearing oct 15). the second interview consists of English proficiency writing, speaking, etc... proving once again the two of you are together (with bills, mortgage) and also american history test! It took about five months before we heard the date of the interview from the time that we applied. GOOD LUCK!

  2. Yes, absolutely, there's an interview associated with a citizenship application.

  3. you are good to go, welcome to the USA

  4. I am not sure of your exact circumstances, but I do believe that they might ask for another interview, and ask "how well do they know each other" types of questions, to be sure it is for real.  It's not a thing for sure, just if they have any reason to suspect anything.
