  1. Birds are weaned when they can eat on their own.  Watch them and see if they are consistently eating on their own, and the parents have stopped feeding them.  Seed-eating birds are weaned sooner than insect-eating birds, because insects are harder to grab than seeds.

    If you are handfeeding the chicks yourself, start leaving out food and water for them in the cage, and they will instinctively start feeding themselves when they are ready.


  2. Typically between 2 and 4 months, but it depends on the bird. Cockatoos for eg. are notoriously poor weaners, because they are big sooks and find it hard to be independent. Other birds like Eclectus and so on are easier to wean and wean more readily.

  3. they don't drink milk so what do you mean weaned? You mean when can they get their own food? I'd say around 3 weeks or so. Whenever they start trying to fly they should be able to get their own food.
