When are flights to the Dominican Republic the cheapest?

I want to stay at Punta Cana. I just need basic information on activities and transportation. I, also, would like to go into the city maybe once or twice. Possibly a site that could give me cheap reservations?

When I go, I usually stay in the city with family, but this time I'm thinking a resort would be more fun. =P

First of all, Punta Cana is only a hotel strip with not much to do outside, the next town is about 45 miles away! I would suggest to speak with your travel agent, he/she will give you better info about Puerto Plata, this is 10x better than Punta Cana (boring). The town of Puerto Plata has about 250.000 souls and is in colonial style. Lot of place to go for shopping to! Cheape time ? May to September.
