When are kids old enough to swim alone in our own pool?

i need to know when kids are old enough to swim alone inside a pool, not a public one, but our very own private one, please respond!!

  1. it depends on their ability and skill in swimming. but i would say around 9. 9 if your home. but if your leaving the house then i would say around 5th grade.


  2. They should always have adult supervision when swimming in a public or private pool. Depending on their skill level, not necessarily their age will determine whether or not you need to be in the water with them, but children always need adult supervision while swimming.

  3. It doesn't matter on age. If a kid can swim perfectly fine without struggling, then he/she can.

Wait until your sure that they are capable of swimming by themselves (maybe make a mini swim test that they have to pass) and you are sure that they won't do something stupid such as dive head-first into the shallow end. Still, until they're 11 or so you should remain at home while they're in the water. You might also want to have at least two kids in the pool at a time, especially if you'll be leaving the house.
